Boston tax attorney Steve Small, the nation's leading authority on private land protection options, is the author of a series of excellent Preserving Family Lands books.

In Book 1, Small states something to the effect that in every single community in this country, if you have a piece of land that you want to develop, you have a whole support network of professional attorneys, engineers, land use planners, surveyors, appraisers and planners ready to help you.

Small then adds that in every single community in this country there are landowners who would like to preserve their beloved lands but "most of them have absolutely nowhere to turn".
